#10 Wake Forest Defeats Gardner-Webb on Wednesday Night

Box Score WINSTON-SALEM – #10 Wake Forest defeated Gardner-Webb on a 7-0 decision to improve to 6-0 on the season.
 
The Demon Deacons claimed the doubles point after winning the #2 and #3 flights 6-2. Wake Forest defeated GWU's Numa Lemieux-Monette in the #3 position. They won the doubles point with a win over Sebastian Harris and Connor Enslin at #2. The topflight match went unfinished with WFU's Robert Maciag and Ben Draper leading 5-3 over Chrisjan Van Wyk and Victor Putter.
 
Wake Forest swept the singles matches all in straight sets. Enslin was defeated 6-1, 6-1 in the #4 position, followed by Spring at #5, 6-1, 6-0. Wake Forest clinched the team's win with Melios Efstathiou winning against Harris 6-1, 6-1 in the #2 flight.
 
Rounding out the day, in the #6 position, Cathal Butler lost 6-1, 6-3 as Van Wyk fell in his match at #1 6-3, 6-2. The day ended with Rrezart Cungu winning in the #3 position over Putter 6-4, 6-2.
 
Gardner-Webb will be back in action at Davidson on Sunday, January 23 as the 'Dogs seek to claim their first win of the year.
