During the opening frame, Gardner-Webb fell behind early, but used an 11-2 scoring swing to take control of the set and win the first. In the second, GWU trailed 19-15, but tallied three unanswered points twice to close the gap and take a 23-21 advantage en route to a two-point victory.

In the final set, GWU raced out to an early lead and never looked back, sealing the victory with a 25-13 score capped off by Mikayla Logan's 13th kill of the day off a Morgan Hornaday assist.
