BOILING SPRINGS – Gardner-Webb defeated Big South Conference opponent Presbyterian, 2-0, behind a pair of first-time goal scorers Saturday night from Greene-Harbison Stadium.

Giampaolo Nardi opened the scoring in the 19
th minute with a header that found the back of the net. Freshman
Brandon Mbo was credited with the assist as he sent in a beautiful cross to the midfielder to finish off the early scoring opportunity. Senior
Odal Brown then followed up in the second half with a goal of his own in the 72
nd minute off a through-ball from
Aymane Sordo.
"I am proud to get three points," said head coach
Tony Setzer. "We are satisfied with the way we played, but we need to improve and play better as the season grinds on."
With the win, the Runnin' Bulldogs move to 6-3-2 overall and 2-0-2 in Big South action, good enough for fourth place in the current league standings.
Goalkeeper
Javier Ramirez faced six shots and posted one save in the match. His record improved to 6-2-2- with the victory.
"It was great to get back home and play on our home pitch again," said Setzer. "We're looking forward to playing the final three of four league matches at our place as we look to finish the regular season strong."
The Runnin' Bulldogs are next in action October 19 when they will host USC Upstate. The match is set to begin at 6:00 p.m. at Greene-Harbison Stadium. This will be the second of a four-game homestand to close out the regular season for Gardner-Webb.
