Box Score HARRISONBURG, VA – Gardner-Webb lost to James Madison by a score of 2-1 in a hard-fought matchup Saturday night in Harrisonburg. Prior to Saturday, the Runnin' Bulldogs had gone six straight games without a loss.
Gardner-Webb struck first in the 19
th minute behind a goal from
Aymane Sordo. The midfielder slotted one past the goalkeeper, notching his third goal of the season. The Runnin' Bulldogs remained aggressive, outshooting James Madison 17 to 12, but ultimately could not find the back of the net outside of Sordo's first half strike.
Evan Southern tied things up for the Dukes just before the break. Southern also scored the deciding goal in the 62
nd minute.
"We started off strong, scoring the first goal of the match early," said head coach
Tony Setzer. "I was happy with the opportunities we had, we just have to do a better job of capitalizing and protecting the lead."

Javier Ramirez had three saves, facing 12 shots in the effort. His record moved to 5-2-2 on the season.
Gardner-Webb is next in action October 15
th as it resumes Big South Conference play. The Runnin' Bulldogs will host Presbyterian at 6:00 p.m. in Greene-Harbison Stadium.
