Williams Named Big South Player of the Week

CHARLOTTE – Gardner-Webb's Jhessyka Williams was announced as the Big South Player of the Week on Monday afternoon, her first award of the 2022-2023 season.
Williams averaged 15.5 points, 9.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists across two games last week and helped Gardner-Webb to a come-from-behind victory over College of Charleston last Wednesday. The graduate guard notched her third double-double of the year finishing with 23 points and 13 boards while adding six assists – all team-highs – as the 'Dogs picked up a 91-87 home win over the Cougars to remain undefeated in Paul Porter Arena.
Williams had eight points, six rebounds and one steal in the team's road game at Alabama on Sunday. For the week, the Augusta, Ga. native finished 9-of-22 from the field (40.9%) and 13-of-20 from the free throw line (65.0%).
Gardner-Webb will be back in action on Thursday, December 1 at Austin Peay with a tipoff scheduled for noon. This weekend, the Runnin' Bulldogs will head to California to participate in the Cal Bears B.A.R. Invitational to face SMU on Saturday and Arkansas Pine Bluff on Sunday.
