Big South Selects Williams as POTW for Second Time in 2022-2023 Season

CHARLOTTE – Gardner-Webb's Jhessyka Williams was named the Big South Conference's Player of the Week on Monday afternoon after helping the 'Dogs to a pair of big nonconference wins. This is Williams' second time with the award this year and the third time a GWU player has received the honor so far.
At VCU on Monday, she posted 27 points and 16 rebounds, leading the team in both and having her rebounding mark be a new season-high. On the defensive end of the floor, she had two steals and a block in the Runnin' Bulldogs' 61-56 win over the Rams.
On Thursday, the Runnin' Bulldogs returned home to host East Carolina. The graduate student had another 27 points to go along with 11 rebounds, four steals and two blocks in a 67-59 victory over the Pirates. This was her sixth double-double of the young 2022-2023 campaign.
Gardner-Webb returns to action on Tuesday, December 20 with a trip to Boone, N.C. to play Appalachian State at 2:00 p.m. to close out the team's nonconference slate.
