BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – Women's Tennis cruised to a 7-0 win over Limestone in the team's season opener.
The Runnin' Bulldogs dominated in doubles competitions winning by decisive margins in each.
Teodora Ristic and
Maria Jardim won in the #2 flight 6-0 followed by
Katie Watts and
Emilia Roslund's 6-1 win at #3 to clinch the doubles point.
Manon Delsol and
Elin Hellberg closed doubles with a 6-1 triumph in the top matchup.
Singles competitions saw many similar results as the 'Dogs won every match in straight sets. Ristic won the topflight matchup 6-2, 6-0. Delsol played in the #2 position and won 6-3, 6-0. Jardim clinched the team win with a 6-2, 6-3 victory at the #4 flight.
The afternoon finished with
Elise Semmartin claiming a 6-2, 6-1 win at #5 followed by Watts' 6-3, 7-6(3) victory at #6 in her first match with the team. Hellberg's at #3 was the last to finish and she prevailed 6-3, 6-3 to clinch the 7-0 sweep for GWU.
Next up for Gardner-Webb is hosting Western Carolina on Saturday, February 5 with a start time of 2:00 p.m.
