KSU opened up a 3-0 lead after wins at No. 1 and No. 6 singles, but Gardner-Webb rallied with wins by No. 4

Alex Lepine (4-6, 6-1, 6-2) to stay in contention.
Chrisjan Van Wyck got off to a rousing start at No. 2 singles in attempt to tie the match at three points each – winning the opening set 6-2 – but Raul Garcia clinched the win for Kennesaw State with wins in the second and third set.
"We are too close and it was a very good college tennis match," said head coach
