BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Gardner-Webb women's basketball faced off against the Campbell Camels at Gore Arena on the campus of Campbell University on Saturday afternoon. The Runnin' Bulldogs emerged victoriously by a slim margin of just three points. The final score was 59-56, GWU.
Today's win over Campbell marked the seventh consecutive win streak for the Runnin' Bulldogs, which is their longest win streak of the season.
Gardner-Webb (14-13, 12-4) shot 41.67% (23-for-56) from the floor, 25.0% (5-for-20) from beyond the arc, and 47.1% (8-for-17) at the charity stripe. The Runnin' Bulldogs Capitalized off of 26 points in the paint, 15 second chance points, and 13 points off of turnovers.
Campbell (19-6, 13-3) shot 39.6% (21-for-53) in field-goal range, 27.8% (5-for-18) in field-goal range, and 69.2% (9-for-13) at the free-throw line. The Camels scored 28 points in the paint, 18 points off of turnovers, and 12 fast break points.
Jhessyka Williams lead the offensive scoring efforts for the 'Dogs with 20 points, 14 rebounds, three blocks, and two assists. Today was the tenth double-double of the season for Williams (12 of career).
The reigning Big South Player of the Week
Alasia Smith locked in her fifth consecutive double-double of the season today (12 this season, 15 career), as she put up 15 points and 12 rebounds.
