WILMINGTON, N.C. – Women's Tennis fell to 1-4 on the season following a 5-2 loss to the Seahawks on Saturday afternoon.
Gardner-Webb's #3 pair of
Emilia Roslund and
Katie Watts lost 6-1 and then had their #2 duo
Teodora Ristic and
Maria Jardim fall 6-3. This allowed UNCW to get the first point of the day with the doubles point. The topflight match went unfinished with GWU trailing 5-2.
UNCW clinched the overall team win quickly behind straight set wins on courts 2-4. Roslund's debut in singles competition ended with her getting the team's first point of the day. Her match in position #6 ended 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 for her first career singles win.
Ristic lost in the #1 position 2-6, 6-2, 3-6 to UNCW's Sasha Belaya. The day ended with Gardner-Webb's
Courtney Fyvie winning 7-5, 5-7, 1-0 (12-10) for her first win of the season.
The 'Dogs will be back in action on Wednesday, February 23 traveling to Wofford for a 2:00 p.m. match.
