BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – Gardner-Webb softball faced Morehead State and ETSU on Sunday afternoon in the final day of the Red & Black Classic at Brinkley Softball Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Game One: Gardner-Webb 3, Morehead State 1
The Runnin' Bulldogs put up three runs late in the game to secure their fifth win of the season. In the fourth inning,
Kayleigh Nicholson scored off of an RBI single hit by Mckenzie Lawrence. Later in the fifth inning, with two outs already on the board, Nicholson was walked with the bases loaded, so
Araceli Pesqueira strutted home and put the 'Dogs up 2-0. Later on in the sixth,
Abbey Goodrum hit a double RBI into play to make it a 3-0 game.
Morehead State tried to battle back in the seventh inning with a sacrifice fly, but a groundout ball to third-base for the third out ended the game in favor of GWU.
Sydney Gilbert earned the win for the Runnin' Bulldogs, pitching the full seven inning game, she allowed six hits, one run, and struck out eight batters.
Game Two: ETSU 6, Gardner-Webb 5
Entering the seventh inning, it was an even 4-4 ballgame. ETSU managed to put two runs on the board from a sacrifice fly and a single, giving the Buccaneers a 6-4 lead.
The 'Dogs put up a run in the bottom of the seventh to try and even the score, as
Bridgette Strobl hit a double RBI, allowing
Baylee Short to cross home plate.
Riley McCurry and Nicholson then flied out for the final two outs of the game.
