Charleston, S.C. - Gardner-Webb women's basketball completed its second sweep of a Big South opponent, while locking in its fourth consecutive win, as it defeated Charleston Southern on Wednesday night inside the CSU Field House. The final score was 90-51, Gardner-Webb.

Gardner-Webb (11-13, 9-4) shot 48.6% (36-for-74) from the floor, 45.8% (11-for-24) from deep, and 58.3% (7-for-12) at the charity stripe. The Runnin' Bulldogs capitalized off of 46 points in the paint, 34 points off of turnovers, and 27 points from the bench.

Charleston Southern (2-20, 2-9) shot 25.9% (15-for-58) in field-goal range, 42.9% (9-for-21) in three-point range, and 66.7% (12-for-18) at the free-throw line. The 'Dogs defense only allowed the Buccaneers to score eight points in the paint and second-chance points.

Alasia Smith led the offensive front for GWU with 24 points, coupled with 11 rebounds to mark her ninth double-double of the season (12th career). Smith's 24 point night also marks a new career-high for her as well.

Emma Capps had herself a night on the hardwood as well, knocking down nine field goals, three from downtown, and two buckets at the foul line. Capps' new career-high of 23 points is nearly double her previous career-high, which hadn't been touched since December 2020.

The Runnin' Bulldogs will be back in action this upcoming Saturday (Feb. 12), as they return to the friendly confines of Paul Porter Arena for the '22 Hoopscoming celebration. Tipoff is set for 4:30 p.m. against Radford and will stream live on ESPN+.
