BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – Southeast Missouri defeated Gardner-Webb 4-3 on Thursday afternoon at the Webb Tennis Complex. GWU falls to 4-6 on the season with the loss.
The Redhawks swept the Runnin' Bulldogs in the doubles matches to claim the early doubles point.
Singles action started with
Elise Semmartin coming away victorious 6-3, 6-3 from the #6 position. Southeast Missouri won the following two singles matches to be completed from the 3 and 4 flights.
Following the pair of losses,
Manon Delsol won 7-5, 6-4 from the #2 position.
Teodora Ristic's win in the topflight 6-2, 7-5 made the overall match come down to the result on court 5 as the score was tied at 3.
Emilia Roslund won the opening set in this critical match 7-5 but was unable to prevail in the closing two, dropping them 2-6, 5-7.
Gardner-Webb will be back on the courts Sunday, March 20 at Longwood to kick off six Big South matches in a 15-day window.
