RJ Mosley Begins NCAA Championship Quest Thursday Afternoon In Motor City

DETROIT – Gardner-Webb junior RJ Mosley begins his journey at the 2022 NCAA DIvision I Wrestling Championships on Thursday, with the first round slated to begin at Noon.
Mosley (Oklahoma City, Okla. / Heritage Hall HS) is seeded No. 22 at 165 pounds after rolling to the Southern Conference championship last week. He will face No. 11 Izzak Olejnik of Northern Illinois in the opening round – with the pair battling in the 101st match of the day on Thursday.
Mat assignments will be revealed around 20 minutes prior to the start of the bout. A landing page with a link to each of the eight mats is available here.
Mosley posted an 18-6 overall record in 2021-2022 and has won 65 individual bouts during a strong career with the Runnin' Bulldogs. He is the first Southern Conference individual champion at 165 pounds for GWU since Tyler Marinelli did so in 2019. Gardner-Webb has seen 31 wrestlers advance to NCAA Division I Championship competition during its time at collegiate wrestling's highest level.
Olejnik hails from Bakersfield, Calif., and is a three-time NCAA qualifier after securing the Mid America Conference's automatic bid this season. He has also posted 65 career wins and went 24-4 this season.
