BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell handed Gardner-Webb their first conference loss of the season on a 5-2 decision on a windy Saturday afternoon.

Mike Griffith said, "Campbell is a tough place to play, and they played better than we did at crucial times in the match. I know our team is special and we will regroup moving forward."
The Runnin' Bulldogs won the first doubles match to be completed 6-2 with
Numa Lemieux-Monette and
Eduardo Dias winning at #3. Despite the win, GWU lost on courts 1 and 2 to allow Campbell to get the doubles point.
The Fightin' Camels' Pol Otin defeated
Victor Putter at 2, 6-2, 6-3 to push the team's overall lead to 2-0. Gardner-Webb won the next two matches to finish from positions 3 and 4.
Sebastian Harris won 6-1, 6-2 from court 4.
Chrisjan Van Wyk defeated Robin Angles 6-4, 6-4 at 3 to tie the overall match.
Alex Lepine dropped his match in three sets from flight 5, with Dias' 7-6 (4), 7-5 defeat in the topflight being the next to conclude and clinch the win for Campbell. The day ended with Noe MacQuart beating
Connor Enslin 6-7 (5), 6-3, 6-4.
Gardner-Webb is now 3-1 in Big South matches and does not have their next match until Wednesday, March 30 hosting Radford, who is 3-0 in conference play.
