ASHEVILLE, N.C. – Women's Tennis won their third match in a row on Wednesday to improve to 2-0 in Big South play. The Runnin' Bulldogs handed UNC Asheville their first loss of the season as they fell to 8-1 overall and 2-1 in the Big South.
Teodora Ristic and
Maria Jardim kicked off doubles match with a dominant 6-0 win on the #2 court, marking back-to-back doubles matches without allowing the opponent to win a game. GWU dropped the match in the topflight 6-2.
Katie Watts and
Emilia Roslund clinched the doubles point with a 6-4 win in position #3 to get Gardner-Webb their first point of the afternoon.
UNC Asheville won the opening singles match at #5 6-0, 6-1 to tie the match at 1 each. Roslund regained the lead for Gardner-Webb 6-3, 6-1 with her win on court 6. After GWU lost on 3,
Elin Hellberg secured a win on court 4, 6-3, 6-4.
Teodora Ristic had a victory on the #1 court, to clinch the win for Gardner-Webb. The score was 7-5, 7-6 (10).
Manon Delsol won the closing match of the afternoon from position #2, 6-2, 6-7 (5), 3-1.
Gardner-Webb's next match will be Sunday, March 6 at 1:00 p.m. versus Davidson.
