BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – Gardner-Webb Women's Tennis continued their historic start to the conference season as the team defeated Radford 5-2 to improve to 4-0 in the Big South.
The day started with
Katie Watts and
Emilia Roslund winning 6-1 on court #3. The 'Dogs dropped the match in the topflight but used a win on court #2 to clinch the doubles point.
Teodora Ristic and
Maria Jardim won this match 6-2.
Manon Delsol's match was the first to be completed to singles winning in straight sets. The final score was 6-2, 6-1.
Elise Semmartin played in the #5 position and was victorious 6-2, 6-4. Roslund clinched the team's win with her victory at flight 6 by a 6-2, 2-6, 6-0 score.
The Highlanders clinched the next two of the afternoon each in three sets for their lone points of the day. Malin Falk and Emily Brandow won on courts 3 and 4. The day finished with Ristic coming back from a first-set loss, to win the final pair 6-2, 7-6 (4).
Gardner-Webb is now tied with Charleston Southern for the top spot in the standings of the Big South with a 4-0 record. The Runnin' Bulldogs have their next match Saturday, March 26 at Campbell at 1:00 p.m.
