BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – The Gardner-Webb softball team took on conference foe Charleston Southern on Friday evening to open up the three game series.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Runnin' Bulldogs put up two runs tonight in the fourth inning to seal the victory. Molly Montgomery hit a double allowing Abbey Goodrum to score, which was then followed by a single by Araceli Pesqueira that allowed Montgomery to lock in the second run.
Andrea Lyon (5-7) earned the win in the circle, pitching the full 7.0 innings she allowed one hit, three walks, and struck out two batters.


COACH QUOTABLE
"I'm really proud of our team tonight," said head coach Bailey Wigness. "The defense was phenomenal, and we made some really great plays to back up Andrea Lyon. We also got the timely hits when we needed them. Tonight was a great way to open the series."
