BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – The Gardner-Webb softball team closed out the conference series against Charleston Southern on Saturday afternoon, ultimately dropping both games.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Game One: Charleston Southern 5, Gardner-Webb 4
Andrea Lyon led the 'Dogs at the plate in game one, going 3-for-4, putting up a pair of runs, and a single RBI. Two Lyon's hits were a home run and a triple.
Abbey Goodrum followed going 2-for-3 at the plate, scoring a single run and two RBI. The foursome of
Molly Montgomery,
Bridgette Strobl,
Riley McCurry, and
Kayleigh Nicholson each registered a single hit.
Lyon (5-8) took the loss in the circle, throwing 5.0 innings she allowed five runs and hits, three walks, and struck out one batter.
Game Two: Charleston Southern 3, Gardner-Webb 1
The Buccaneers put of the first two runs of the game across the first two innings of play. Striking back in the fourth, the 'Dogs put up a run off of fielder's choice that allowed McCurry to score. Later on in the fifth, CSU managed to cross home to make it a 3-1 ballgame, which eventually allowed the Bucs to capture the win.
Araceli Pesqueira paced the 'Dogs at the plate in game two, as she went 3-for-4, and was one of four to register a hit.
Sydney Gilbert (5-5) took the loss for GWU in the circle, pitching a total of 5.0 innings she allowed three hits, one run, three walks, and struck out six batters.
