RADFORD, Va. – The Gardner-Webb softball team faced Radford on Saturday afternoon, untimely dropping the first game of the conference series.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The 'Dogs got off to a hot start in the first inning, as leadoff batter
Katie Mitchell hit a single into left field. Which was followed by single down the left field line by Abby Goodrum.
Andrea Lyon then grounded out allowing Michell and Goodrum to advance to second and third.
Molly Montgomery then grounded out for the second out of the inning, but it allowed Mitchell to cross home plate and put the 'Dogs on the board early.
In the third and fifth innings, the Highlanders put up a combined six runs on the board to claim the victory.
Sydney Gilbert (5-6) took the loss in the circle, pitching a total of 6.0 innings, she allowed 11 hits, six runs, and struck out four batters.

Runnin' Bulldogs softball will be back in action tomorrow, Saturday, April 2, as they wrap up the series with a doubleheader. The action is slated to start at noon and 2 p.m.
