CHARLOTTE - The Big South Conference announced the winners of their weekly awards today, naming Gardner-Webb's
Bria Foley the Freshman of the Week. This is her second time winning the honor this season.
This week, she posted back-to-back hat tricks in goals to help the 'Dogs clinch a berth in the Big South Tournament, the first time since 2016. Against Radford, Foley converted all three of her shot attempts into scores and added two draw controls. Her first score was the early go-ahead goal for GWU in the game. On Saturday, she helped the team claim their first ever win over the Lancers. In the third quarter, she started a 5-0 run for GWU that let the team take control of the game and seal the win.
Foley has recorded 25 goals this season, which ranks third in program history for a freshman. She is tied for fourth on the team in goals scored. Foley has had four games this year with three or more scores, all coming in matches since Mid-March. She has put 81.1% of her shots on cage and converted 47.2% of these chances into score.
Gardner-Webb will wrap up the regular season on Wednesday, April 27 at 4:00 p.m. hosting High Point (7-1). The first round for the Big South Tournament will be held at campus sites on Saturday, April 30.
