CLINTON, S.C. – Gardner-Webb softball took a quick trip down to the palmetto state to face Big South foe Presbyterian on Saturday afternoon, ultimately dropping the twin bill.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Game 1: Presbyterian 5, Gardner-Webb 0
The Blue Hose put up five runs over the second, third, and fifth innings respectively to secure the eventual win.
The Runnin' Bulldogs lone hit in the game came from
Molly Montgomery (1-for-3).
Andrea Lyon (6-9) took the loss in the circle for GWU, pitching a total of 5 innings, allowing eight hits, five runs, four walks, while striking out six batters.
Game 2: Presbyterian 6, Gardner-Webb 4
PC took an early lead in the bottom of the first inning, as the Blue Hose hit a double into play, which put two runs on the board.
Later on during GWU's at-bat in the fourth inning, PC's lead was shortened to just one.
Araceli Pesqueira smacked a double down the left field line, allowing
Katie Mitchell to cross homeplate and make it a 2-1 ballgame.
The Blue Hose then hit a two-run homer over the centerfield fence during their at-bat in the fourth to pull ahead, putting the 'Dogs at a three-run deficit.
During the 'Dogs at-bat in the seventh,
Alexa Key came into pinch hit, hitting a double into play which put two runs on the board.
Katie Mitchell followed with another double, sending Key across home plate, making it a 6-4 game.
Andrea Lyon (6-10) took the loss for GWU, as she threw five full innings, allowing seven hits and four runs. Lyon struck out four batters throughout her five innings in the circle.
