BOILING SPRINGS – Gardner-Webb has added to its incoming haul for the 2022-2023 season as the Runnin' Bulldogs announced on Saturday the signing of transfer guard Quest Aldridge.
Aldridge (Winston Salem, N.C. / Mount Tabor HS) comes to Boiling Springs after spending the last three seasons at Belmont Abbey College under head coach Dan Ficke. He helped lead the Crusaders to a combined 61-25 record, back-to-back Conference Carolinas titles and three entries to the NCAA Division II Tournament.
Manning the backcourt at 6'4", Aldridge averaged 14.2 points, 5.0 rebounds and 4.5 assists last season. A threat to score both in the lane and from beyond the arc, the North Carolina native shot 47.3 percent overall and connected at a 41.1 percent clip from downtown while sinking 80.3 percent of free throws.
Playing his best ball down the stretch in 2021-2022, Aldridge poured in a career-high 30 points in the opening round of the Conference Carolinas Championship two games before finishing as the team's leading scorer with 23 points in Belmont Abbey's upset of top-seeded Emmanuel to claim the team's second consecutive conference crown. He hit 5-of-11 attempts from the field that game and knocked down a clutch 13 of 15 free throws to ultimately help the Abbey clinch the title.
"Quest is an outstanding addition to our roster," said head coach Tim Craft. "First and foremost, he comes from a very well-coached, winning program. He is an efficient offensive player and a proven scorer and shot maker."
One of the top guards in the league during his time with the Crusaders, Aldridge was selected to back-to-back All-Conference Carolinas teams while leading Belmont Abbey to a pair of NCAA regional appearances. He averaged 12.0 points and 3.9 rebounds as a sophomore while also making his presence felt defensively with 96 combined steals in 76 career games.
Aldridge joins the Runnin' Bulldogs with two years of athletic eligibility still remaining.
