Brimeux Scores 120 Seconds Into Match at VMI To Lead GWU to 4-0 Win

Box Score LEXINGTON, VA. – Men's Soccer put on an offensive showcase at VMI on Saturday afternoon as the Runnin' Bulldogs cruised to a 4-0 win over the Keydets. Pablo Brimeux put GWU ahead early with his first goal of the day coming just 120 seconds into the match.

"We executed at an extremely high-level today," said Head Coach Tony Setzer. "From start to finish we did what we needed to do. The offense put it in the net four times and the defense kept them out of it on the other end. It was a collective team effort and I'm proud of the guys for stringing together back-to-back wins now."

Brimeux scored the opening goal of the day at the two-minute mark off an assist by Samuel Ritner with Owen Zaldivar on the second assist. Brimeux continued to keep the pressure up and tallied his second in the 20th minute off a Carlos Jimenez-O'Farrill pass.

In the second half, Gardner-Webb continued to find success as Jacob Harris found the back of the net in the 67th minute after collecting the Tanael Rose missed shot. The goal marked the first for Harris in his collegiate career. In the 73rd minute, Jaylen Orr had the fourth of the day for Gardner-Webb off the assist from Marcovich Brown.

Javier Ramirez had the start in goal for the Runnin' Bulldogs and made two saves during his 62 minutes of action. Ramirez was replaced by Lorenzo Bartoloni for the final 28 minutes and had a save during his time on the pitch.

Gardner-Webb took 20 shots during the match, putting 13 on target, each was a team-high for the 2022 season.

The Runnin' Bulldogs will turn their attention to their Big South opener scheduled for Friday, September 16 at 7:00 p.m. at High Point, the preseason conference runner-up selection.
