Gardner-Webb Hosts USC Upstate Wednesday Night At 7:00 PM For White Out Game

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – Gardner-Webb hosts USC Upstate Wednesday night in a key Big South Conference battle at 7:00 pm in Paul Porter Arena.

The Runnin' Bulldogs (9-11, 4-4 Big South) are hosting its 'White Out Game' on Wednesday, with all GWU fans encouraged to wear white to cheer on the home team.

The two teams are currently tied for fourth in the Big South Conference standings. USC Upstate (9-10, 4-4 Big South) is coming off a week that saw a home win over Presbyterian (61-60) and a road loss at UNC Asheville (64-58).

Gardner-Webb split a pair last week as well, falling 64-59 at first-place Longwood and knocking off Winthrop by a 63-61 score on Saturday afternoon.

Tim Craft's Runnin' Bulldogs are tied with the league leaders with three road wins this season in league play so far – but have gone just 1-2 in league home games with last-second losses to Radford and UNC Asheville in early January.

The Runnin' Bulldogs will lean on a strong home crowd expected Wednesday night to rally as the first half of the Big South schedule comes to to a close.

Guard DQ Nicholas leads the team in scoring at 11.3 points per game and is also the top assist man at 3.1 dimes per outing. The Southeast Missouri State transfer has made 17 starts and is logging 28.4 minutes per game.

Kareem Reid (10.7 ppg) and Anthony Selden (10.5 ppg) provide scoring punch in the paint and on the wing, while Julien Soumaoro is the team's top deep threat at 9.9 points per game.

Shot blocker Ludovic Dufeal stepped up on the offensive end Saturday at Winthrop, coming through with 12 points in that win. The 6-foot-8 forward averages 6.3 points and 1.7 blocks per game.

Gardner-Webb has eight different players averaging at least 6.0 points per game this season.

USC Upstate is led by sophomore sensation Jordan Gainey (15.6 ppg) and Navy transfer Trae Broadnax (10.6 ppg). Justin Bailey has poured in 9.5 points per game off the bench for the Spartans – who have averaged 68.9 points per game as a team this season to date.

Wednesday's game will stream live on ESPN+ (WatchESPN.com) with Phil Constantino and Jerry Dunn. Jim "Mojo" Morrison will have the radio call on ESPNCLT.com.
