Special Promotion Planned As Runnin' Bulldogs Return Home Saturday To Host Radford

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – Gardner-Webb men's basketball is offering a special promotion for area YMCA basketball players for Saturday's 2:00 pm game vs. Radford.

Any YMCA basketball players who wear their team jersey to the game will receive free admission. Family members accompanying any YMCA players can purchase discounted tickets at the door – $5 for adults and $3 for kids.

The Runnin' Bulldogs (7-8, 2-1 Big South) will look to get back on track against the Highlanders (7-9, 1-2 Big South) in the league matinee.

Gardner-Webb got a season-high 20 points off the bench from Quest Aldridge on Wednesday night at Campbell, but could not get in high gear offensively in a 63-58 loss to the Fighting Camels.

A return to Paul Porter Arena is welcomed by the Runnin' Bulldogs, who are 4-1 in the building so far this season with four consecutive wins.

The trio of Anthony Selden (12.2 ppg), Kareem Reid (11.3 ppg) and DQ Nicholas (10.6 ppg) lead the team in scoring, with Julien Soumaoro (9.1 ppg) and sixth man Caleb Robinson (8.0 ppg) close behind.

Gardner-Webb remains the league's top defensive team, pacing the Big South in scoring defense (63.6 ppg) and field goal percentage defense (38.1%). The Runnin' Bulldogs are the only team in the league holding opponents to less than 40.0 percent shooting this season.

Radford is also stout defensively, limiting its foes to 65.4 ppg so far and haven't allowed any of the first three Big South opponents to top 65 points.

DaQuan Smith (12.4 ppg) has led the team's scoring charge in each of the last three games, averaging 17.7 points per game in league play.

Kenyon Giles (11.6 ppg) and former five-star recruit Bryan Antoine (9.6 ppg) also provide scoring punch, with Shaquan Jules (7.8 ppg, 6.3 rpg) and Justin Archer (6.3 rpg) providing punch in the paint.

The Highlanders have dropped six of their last seven games after a promising start that featured a narrow loss at Notre Dame (79-76) and a win over George Washington (86-76).

Saturday's game will stream live on ESPN+ with Phil Constantino on the call.
