
Gardner-Webb Competes in Upstate Invitational Saturday Morning

Runnin’ Bulldogs conclude regular season at USC Upstate
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Gardner-Webb Cross Country ran its final regular season meet on Saturday morning at the USC Upstate Invitational with both the men and women logging 25th place finishes. The women would finish out of 32 teams and the men with 27.
In the 8k event for the men's side, freshman Nathan Cremin led the way again with a 152nd place finish at 27:13. Junior Ryan Morita placed 222nd with a 28:52 finish, not far behind was junior Mark Mellon finishing 236th with a 29:34 time. Freshman Austin DeGeorge clocked in at 29:44 while freshman Kaden Pratt crossed right after DeGeorge at 29:46. The two would secure 240th and 241th in the race, respectfully.
Cremin, DeGeorge, Mellon, and Pratt each topped their 8k career times in this event.
Sophomore John Marsh (33:04) and junior Cole Ray (33:56) completed the men's side with 264th and 267th place finishes.
Competing in the 5k with 279 runners, sophomore Jessica Perriello led the women's team finishing 105th at 19:20. Junior Chloe McDaniel finished behind Perriello in 192nd place with a time of 20:50.
Senior Jennifer Escalera crossed the line at 21:01 to log a 203rd place finish while Isabela Castillo landed 245th with a time of 22:32. Sophomore Lys Ishiari rounded out the women's side with a time of 32:25 and a 278th place finish.
Gardner-Webb's next meet is the Big South Championships hosted by Radford on Sunday, October 29 in Salem, Virginia.
