MONCTON, New Brunswick – The Gardner-Webb University men's basketball team fell in their second match up of the Atlantic Slam to Colgate University on Saturday evening by a final score of 59-52. The ballgame was tied four times in the final four and a half minutes of play.
"Colgate is an outstanding program, playing in the NCAA tournament 4 out last 5 seasons, so we knew tonight would be a great challenge and opportunity for our team.", said coach Craft. "We did some good things to battle back and forth. It just wasn't our night on the offensive end. We are looking forward to bouncing back to play well tomorrow against one of top Mid-Major teams in America in Yale."
The Raiders of Colgate came out hot in the ballgame opening the first three minutes with 12-0 run. The Runnin' Bulldogs were able to slow the scoring and close the gap thanks to key buckets from
Cheickna Sissoko,
Quest Aldridge, Brendan MyKalcio and
Caleb Robinson, taking the lead at the 11:22 minute mark 13-12. The 'Dawgs and Raiders then went back and forth for a pair of possessions before Colgate regained the lead thanks to the first half play of Braeden Smith. A three-pointer from Julien Soumaro and a two from
Ademide Badmus pushed the 'Dawgs to 20 points. Colgate to the lead into the half 26-20.
Gardner-Webb came right out and tied it at 26 to begin the second half thanks to
Lucas Stieber. Parker Jones and Ryan Moffatt quickly regained the six-point lead for Colgate. By the 12:17 minute mark Colgate held a seven-point lead. Stieber, Robinson and
DQ Nicholas kept the pressure on for Gardner-Webb as the game was tied four times in the final 4:29 to play. With 2:11 left, Colgate began a 9-2 run to close it out 59-52.

Caleb Robinson led the 'Dawgs in scoring with 10 for his fourth dougle-digit game so far this year. He is second on the squad in points with 65.
Quest Aldridge and
Lucas Stieber each got it going out of the gate for Gardner-Webb as they tallied nine points. Adimide Badmus led the Runnin' Bulldogs in rebounds with seven in the ballgame. He is second on the team total behind Robinson.

The Runnin' Bulldogs will wrap up the Atlantic Slam against Yale University on Sunday, Nov. 19 at 3 p.m. Gardner-Webb will return to Paul Porter Arena on Nov. 25 for a 1:00 p.m. tip off against Limestone University.
