Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Gardner-Webb Defeats Limestone 92-51

Four Runnin’ Bulldogs score double-digits in home victory

BOILING SPRINGS. N.C. – The Gardner-Webb University men's basketball team hosted the Saints of Limestone University on Saturday afternoon winning their second home game of the season by a final score of 92-51. The Runnin' Bulldogs had four different players tally double-digits in the ballgame.

"I'm glad to win and win big.", said coach Craft. "I felt like Limestone has a team that's capable of winning a division I game. I think their top four scorers can play and start on teams in our league. I didn't think this was going to be an easy one, and we had to earn it, but we did earn it, and our guys did well. I was happy to see our guys make 11 threes. That's something that on the road here the last five games we haven't done well. Also, I think this is going to be a good shooting team, so that was great to see the ball go through the basket like that. Hopefully that will carry through to next week with Queens and Western Carolina."

After a few empty possessions at the start, Julien Soumaoro and Caleb Robinson got the 'Dawgs offense going as Gardner-Webb went on a 15-9 run in the opening 10 minutes. Greg Mckay allowed the Saints to reach 15 points before the Runnin' Bulldogs began to heat up toward the end of the first half going on a 25-10 run lead led by Quest Aldridge, Lucas Stieber and DQ Nicholas. GWU held a 42-19 lead at the half.

Gardner-Webb continued to build the lead in the second half extending it to 32 points by the 14:12 mark. GWU saw contributions from all over the floor down the stretch with Brendan Mykalcio, Darryl Simmons II, Isaiah Robinson, and Cheickna Sissoko tallying field goals. Taku Youngblood and Chance Thacker would also tally their first points of the season late in the contest. Gardner-Webb ultimately pulled away to defeat Limestone 92-51.
