BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – The Gardner-Webb University men's basketball team will continue their non-conference slate on Monday, Dec. 11 against the North Greenville University Crusaders at 7:00 p.m. Monday's game will stream live on
ESPN+ (WatchESPN.com), with the radio call broadcast live on 730 The Game (ESPN Charlotte 730 AM), the Varsity Network App,
GWUSports.com/listenlive, and 97.5 FM. Mark Binetti and former Penn State Head Coach Jerry Dunn will be on the call for TV. "The Voice of the Runnin' Bulldogs" Phil Constantino will be on the call for radio.
SCOUTING THE CRUSADERS
The North Greenville Crusaders enter Monday's game with a record of 4-3. Their wins have come against Limestone University (Nov. 15), Mars Hill University (Nov. 20), Warren Wilson College (Nov. 28), and Erskine College (Dec. 2). Their losses have come against the University of North Georgia (Nov. 11), Georgia College (Nov. 12), and Emmanuel College (Dec. 9). Last season the Crusaders posted a record of 7-21. Head Coach Chad Lister is in his 22
nd season at the helm of the North Greenville men's basketball program with overall record of 241-349. Gardner-Webb has a 2-0 record all-time against North Greenville.
LAST TIME OUT
Most recently, Gardner-Webb fell at home to Wofford (Dec. 6). Wofford outscored Gardner-Webb in the first eight minutes of the game going on a 17-8 run. The led by as many as 12 at the 11:37 mark.
Caleb Robinson began to close the gap for the Runnin' Bulldogs scoring six unanswered points off a layup and four free-throws. He was joined on the scoresheet late in the first half by
Shahar Lazar,
Julien Soumaoro and
DQ Nicholas who scored a three on a pull up jumper to close the half. The 'Dawgs led 29-26 at the break.
The Terriers came back to tie the game at 32 at the 18:44 in the second. Soumaoro was able to convert a four-point play to take the lead back briefly for the 'Dawgs. Wofford regained the lead behind the shooting of Jackson Sivills and Dillon Bailey. The Runnin' Bulldogs battled back to within three points at the 5:41 mark. Wofford grew their lead down the stretch to earn the final score 81-66.
'DAWG WATCH
Gardner-Webb is averaging 73.2 points-per-game, 39.4 rebounds per game and 12.3 assists. Soumaoro and Robinson lead the Runnin' Bulldogs in scoring with 140 each. Nicholas is third with 104.
Brendan Mykalcio is fourth with 55 and
Lucas Stieber is fifth with 54. Robinson leads the 'Dawgs in rebounding with 61. He is followed by
Ademide Badmus who has 42 and
Cheickna Sissoko is third with 41. Mykalcio and
Isaiah Richards are tied for fourth rebounding each with 40.
LOOKING AHEAD
The Runnin' Bulldogs will travel to Greensboro, N.C. for a neutral sight game against Appalachian State on Saturday, Dec. 16 at 4:00 p.m.
