BOILING SPRINGS, N.C.  – The Gardner-Webb University women's basketball team fell to the University of Florida on Sunday, Dec. 17 in matinee action as the Gators secured a 115-37 victory.
 
The Gators opened the contest with a 9-0 run before the 'Dawgs tacked on their first points with a jumper from junior guard Ashley Hawkins. Florida would build a quick 17-2 lead until back-to-back buckets for sophomore guard Nyla Walker at 19-7. A layup by freshman forward Andrea Martinez would cut the deficit to 15 before taking the two sides into the second quarter. 
 
A three-pointer from Walker opened the second period putting the score at 27-12. Florida stepped on the gas in the second period, securing a 30-point lead heading into halftime at 53-23. The Runnin' Bulldogs would not be able to recover from the Gator's large margin, ultimately falling 115-37. 
 
NOTABLE STATS
Senior guard Micahla Funderburk led the 'Dawgs in scoring with 11 points, hitting three shots from behind the arc. Walker tailed Funderburk with eight points and sophomore center Grace Pack led the team on the glass with eight rebounds.
