CHARLOTTE – The Big South Conference announced the seeding for the upcoming Hercules Tires Big South Men's Basketball Championship on Saturday evening with Gardner-Webb earning the #5 seed.
GWU's first matchup of the event will be contested on Friday, March 3 and will have a tip off at 2:00 p.m. in Bojangles Coliseum where it can be watched live from ESPN+
The Runnin' Bulldogs will face #4 USC Upstate in the quarterfinals of the event for each team's first matchup. The winner will face off against the winner of #1 UNC Asheville and #8 High Point/#9 Charleston Southern on Saturday. The conference championship will be contested on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. where it can be televised on ESPN2.
UNC Asheville earned the top season after finishing with a 16-2 record and winning the regular season crown. Behind them is #2 Longwood (12-6) and #3 Radford (12-6). At 10-8, there was a three-way tie with the composite records between each other being used to determine the seeds. #4 USC Upstate had a 3-1 record between them, while #5 Gardner-Webb was 2-2, and #6 Winthrop was 1-3.
Rounding out the field was #7 Campbell (8-10), #8 High Point (6-12), #9 Charleston Southern (5-13), and #10 Presbyterian (1-17). Each of these teams will compete in the first round of the tournament that will be competed on Wednesday.
