CULLOWHEE, N.C. – Western Carolina defended their courts on Sunday afternoon as they defeated Gardner-Webb 4-3.
Maria Jardim picked up her 50
th career victory with her win in doubles during the match.
The Runnin' Bulldogs picked up the doubles point as they won on courts #1 and #2, but lost on #3.
Manon Delsol and
Emilia Roslund won 6-2 in the topflight and Jardim and
Courtney Fyvie by a 6-2 score in position #2.
The Catamounts went on to win four of the singles matches for the come-from-behind win. Gardner-Webb's Roslund won on court #2 by a 6-0, 6-2 score. The Runnin' Bulldogs'
Cayline Le Grange was victorious by a 6-2, 2-6, 6-3 final from #6 singles to close out the action for the day.
Gardner-Webb will be back in action on Wednesday as they travel to UNC Greensboro. Following that match, they will play three conference matches in a span of 7 seven days. It starts at Charleston Southern (3/4), vs Presbyterian (3/7), and vs Campbell (3/10).
