CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Gardner-Webb guard DQ Nicholas and forward Kareem Reid each earned Big South Conference postseason honors on Tuesday in advance of the 2023 Hercules Tires Big South Championships.

Nicholas (Atlanta, Ga.) was a second-team selection and Reid (Queens, N.Y.) earned honorable mention honors. Forward Ademide Badmus (Lynn, Mass.) earned a spot on the Big South Conference All-Academic Team.

Nicholas averaged a team-high 12.4 points per game during the regular season and ranked 10th in the Big South in scoring for league games (13.7 ppg). He put together a strong season overall, averaging 3.3 assists and 1.3 steals per game – and scored a career-high 27 points in a home win over High Point.

Reid put together his top offensive season as a Runnin' Bulldog, averaging 10.7 points and 5.7 rebounds per game down low. Against Big South foes, Reid blocked 1.3 shots per game – which ranked fourth in the conference – and proved effective on both ends of the floor.

Reid posted five double-doubles, shot 58.3 percent from the floor and led Gardner-Webb with 54 offensive rebounds.

The 6-foot-9 standout averaged a career-high 25.2 minutes per game and finished the regular season with 953 career points.

Badmus carries a 3.24 cumulative grade point average in sport management and was a key reserve for the Runnin' Bulldogs in the post this season. He enters the postseason averaging 2.3 points and 2.2 rebounds per game while shooting a crisp 58.8 percent from the floor.

Gardner-Webb (15-15, 10-8 Big South) opens the 2023 Hercules Tires Big South Conference Championships on Friday at 2:00 pm the quarterfinals vs. No. 4 seed USC Upstate. The two teams split their regular season series, with each winning at home.
