Kareem Reid each earned Big South Conference postseason honors on Tuesday in advance of the 2023 Hercules Tires Big South Championships.
Nicholas (Atlanta, Ga.) was a second-team selection and Reid (Queens, N.Y.) earned honorable mention honors. Forward
Ademide Badmus (Lynn, Mass.) earned a spot on the Big South Conference All-Academic Team.
Nicholas averaged a team-high 12.4 points per game during the regular season and ranked 10th in the Big South in scoring for league games (13.7 ppg). He put together a strong season overall, averaging 3.3 assists and 1.3 steals per game – and scored a career-high 27 points in a home win over High Point.
Reid put together his top offensive season as a Runnin' Bulldog, averaging 10.7 points and 5.7 rebounds per game down low. Against Big South foes, Reid blocked 1.3 shots per game – which ranked fourth in the conference – and proved effective on both ends of the floor.
Reid posted five double-doubles, shot 58.3 percent from the floor and led Gardner-Webb with 54 offensive rebounds.
The 6-foot-9 standout averaged a career-high 25.2 minutes per game and finished the regular season with 953 career points.
Badmus carries a 3.24 cumulative grade point average in sport management and was a key reserve for the Runnin' Bulldogs in the post this season. He enters the postseason averaging 2.3 points and 2.2 rebounds per game while shooting a crisp 58.8 percent from the floor.
Gardner-Webb (15-15, 10-8 Big South) opens the 2023 Hercules Tires Big South Conference Championships on Friday at 2:00 pm the quarterfinals vs. No. 4 seed USC Upstate. The two teams split their regular season series, with each winning at home.
