Gardner-Webb Rolls To 70-49 Win Over Radford Wednesday Night For 13th Straight

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – Jhessyka Williams scored a game-high 24 points and Gardner-Webb rolled to a 70-49 win in a row on Wednesday night over Radford.

The Runnin' Bulldogs (21-4, 13-0 Big South) won their 13th game in a row and remained a full four games ahead of the field in first place with five games remaining in the Big South regular season.

Lauren Bevis added 13 points, Ki'Ari Cain scored 11 and Alasia Smith scored 10 points to go with nine rebounds.

Gardner-Webb wasted little time extending a strong lead, winning the first quarter 26-12 by turning up the defense and unleashing Williams on all three levels.

Radford (10-14, 6-7 Big South) came alive early in the second quarter to right the ship, but Gardner-Webb rallied down the stretch to lead 42-29 at the half. A low scoring third quarter allowed Gardner-Webb to extend its lead to 56-35 and the Runnin' Bulldogs led by as many as 29 points before clearing the bench.

Gardner-Webb shot 47.6 percent for the game (30-of-63) and forced 23 Radford turnovers – scoring 21 points off of those miscues. It marked the eighth game in a row that the Runnin' Bulldogs have led by as many as 20 points in a game.

Radford shot just 28.8 percent for the game (15-of-52) but kept the score from getting too far out of hand by making 16-of-17 at the free throw line (94.1 percent).

Carmen Williams led the Highlanders with 10 points.

Gardner-Webb has a key road trip on Saturday, traveling to face Campbell at 2:00 pm in Buies Creek (ESPN+).
