Big South Selects Longwood at Gardner-Webb for Final ESPNU Wildcard of 2023; Game Moved to Thursday, February 23

CHARLOTTE – The Big South Conference announced Longwood at Gardner-Webb as the sixth and final matchup for the ESPNU Wildcard broadcasts of the 2022-2023 season. The game will be moved from its Wednesday, February 22 date to Thursday, February 23 with a tipoff for 7:00 p.m. from Paul Porter Arena in Boiling Springs, N.C. This will also be the Senior Night for the team as their final home game of the year.
 
In this first meeting of the season, Longwood overcame a six-point deficit and went on an early 11-2 spurt to start the second half and regain control in the matchup. The Lancers hit on a couple of late shots and held on for the 64-59 win at home. Julian Soumaoro led all scorers with 18 point as he converted on six triples during the evening. Longwood's Walyn Napper and Jesper Granlund each had double figures as they had 17 and 10.
 
Entering the week, Gardner-Webb and Longwood were tied at third in the league each with 8-4 records. The Lancers picked up their ninth win in the conference last night as they hosted and defeated Presbyterian 66-46. The Runnin' Bulldogs will look to draw even again with LU tonight as they play at Radford (10-2) on ESPNU.  
 
More details regarding the matchup and the game itself will be released in the weeks leading up to Thursday, February 23.
