GWU Collects 5-2 Victory at N.C. A&T on Wednesday Afternoon

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Women's Tennis collected their fifth victory of the 2023 season as they took down North Carolina A&T 5-2 on Wednesday afternoon.
 
The Aggies did not field a doubles pair in the #3 flight making GWU only need to win on a court to claim the early point. Manon Delsol and Emilia Roslund provided that victory as they won 6-1 in the topflight. N.C. A&T got the decision in the other doubles match by a 6-3 score.
 
N.C. A&T did not field a player for position #6 in singles awarding GWU the opening point from singles with the 'Dogs leading 2-0 now.
 
Fresh off winning the conference player and freshman of the week awards, Elise Semmartin and Valeria Lloclla providing the crucial individual wins to clinch the team win. Lloclla had the first match to conclude from the #4 court as she won 7-5, 6-0 and gave GWU their third point. Semmartin provided the clincher with her 6-4, 6-3 victory from the #5 court.
 
The Runnin' Bulldogs had the win in the next to conclude as Delsol claimed a 6-2, 2-6, 6-1 win on court #2. The Aggies went on to win the last two singles matches each in three sets to bring the final to 5-2.
 
Gardner-Webb will be back in action on Saturday as they travel to play at Radford at 1:00 p.m. The Highlanders currently sit at 0-1 in league play and 1-10 on the season. Radford faces Longwood (0-1) on Thursday, these are the only teams yet to pick up a victory within Big South play this year.
