Match Recap: Women's Tennis |

Women's Tennis Clinch Playoff Berth; Knocks off Radford 6-1 on the Road on Tuesday

RADFORD, VA. – Gardner-Webb Women's Tennis secured their spot in the Big South Tournament behind a 6-1 win at Radford. With the victory, Gardner-Webb finishes the league season at 3-3 and await to find out their to find out their official tournament seeding until later in the week.
 
Gardner-Webb made quick work of the doubles point as they got the decisions in the first two to conclude. Maria Jardim and Katie Watts won in theirs 6-3 from court #2 with Manon Delsol and Emilia Roslund winning 6-2 to secure the point. The Highlanders fought back to get the victory on court #3 7-5.
 
Each team got a decision in singles to end in straight sets with GWU's Valeria Lloclla to get the first to end from court #4. The final score for it was 6-1, 6-2. Radford got their decision on court #3 6-3, 6-4.
 
The remaining four matches each went to a third set with the match still yet to be decided on. Roslund got the third GWU point of the day with her 6-7 (3), 6-4, 6-1 decision as she dialed in later in the match to get the win. Graduate student Manon Delsol provided the clinch in the topflight after dropping the first set to have the match end at 3-6, 6-2, 7-6 (2).
 
In the other pair of matches, each had a tiebreaker needed in one of the sets to decide its winner. Elise Semmartin got the victory in hers on #5 with it ending 6-4, 5-7, 7-6 (5). The last to conclude was Courtney Fyvie winning in position #6 by a 6-2, 6-7 (2), 7-5 score.
 
The seedings for the upcoming Women's Tennis Big South Tournament will be announced on either Saturday or Sunday of this week depending on when the conference schedule has been finished. The Runnin' Bulldogs now sit at 7-8 overall on the year in Head Coach Jim Corn's 17th season at the helm of the program.
