Davidson Edges Gardner-Webb 4-3 on Friday Afternoon

DAVIDSON, N.C. – Gardner-Webb dropped a 4-3 decision at Davidson on Friday afternoon to conclude the team's nonconference schedule. The Runnin' Bulldogs got the wins in all of the top three singles flights to conclude the day.
 
The Wildcats won the doubles point to start the day as they won each of the matches that were contested. The closest court come from the topflight with the final score ending at 7-5.
 
Two of the singles matches were decided in straight sets with each team coming away with one of the decisions from them. Gardner-Webb's Emilia Roslund got the first point for the team of the day with her 6-4, 6-2 final from court #2. Davidson won 6-3, 6-3 on court #4.
 
The remaining four matches each went to a third set with the two teams splitting the remaining decisions. Manon Delsol held her own from the #1 court with a 5-7, 7-5, 6-2 victory. Maria Jardim had a hard-fought win from position #3 as she won 7-6, 3-6, 6-4. The match on court #6 went to a tiebreaker in the final set and proved to be one of the pivotal moments of the match as Davidson won it.
 
Gardner-Webb (2-3) will be back in action to conclude their regular season at Radford (0-4) on Tuesday, April 11 at 1:00 p.m. and with a win will punch their ticket to the Big South Women's Tennis Tournament.
