CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Sophomore forward Santiago Hoyos and sophomore defender Leo Andrade of the Gardner-Webb men's soccer team have won Big South player of the week honors, the conference announced on Aug. 28, 2023. Hoyos has been named co-Offensive Player of the Week, and Andrade has been named Defensive Player of the Week.

Santiago Hoyos tallied four points on two goals against South Carolina in a 2-0 victory on Sunday, Aug. 27. He scored in the 7^th minute and his second of the day off a penalty in the 56^th minute. He also had two shots on goal against Wofford on Aug. 24.

Leo Andrade scored the game winning goal against Wofford on Thursday Aug. 24 to lift Gardner-Webb to the win in the 76^th minute on one shot on goal. He also anchored the back line to two shutouts on the week. 

These are GWU's first weekly awards of the 2023 season.
