Jayden Brown Named Big South-OVC Offensive Player of the Week

It is Brown's fourth career weekly honor

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - After scoring three touchdowns in the Runnin' Bulldogs season opener at Appalachian State, Jayden Brown earned Big South-OVC Offensive Player of the Week honors, announced by the association on Monday, Sept. 4.

Brown tied his career-high with two rushing touchdowns in Gardner-Webb's game against App State on Saturday, Sept. 2. Both of Brown's rushing touchdowns either tied or gave GWU the lead at the time.

Brown also finished with three receptions for a career-high 67 yards and a touchdown. The sophomore scored on a 41-yard pass play to give GWU a 24-21 lead with 5:16 left in the third quarter. On the day, Brown finished with 45 rushing yards and 67 passing yards for 112 all-purpose yards and three touchdowns.

His three touchdowns leads the Big South-OVC, and is tied for the second-most by a single player in the FCS. His 112 all-purpose yards also leads the association, and ranks 24th in the FCS.

The honor is the fourth career weekly honor for Brown, and is his first offensive weekly award. Brown was a three-time Big South Freshman of the Week last season (10/10, 10/24, 11/21).

Gardner-Webb returns home to Spangler Stadium to face Elon on Saturday, Sept. 9. Kickoff is set for 6:00 P.M. Fans can purchase tickets for the game at gwusports.com.
