ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The Gardner-Webb University women's basketball team fell to the University of North Carolina Asheville on Wednesday evening by a final score of 72-58. Sophomore center
Grace Pack had a career night dropping 18 points in the loss.
Kayla Martin and
Andrea Martinez led the charge early for the Runnin' Bulldogs building a 21-16 lead in the first 10 minutes. UNC Asheville was able to grab their first lead of the ballgame with 6:32 left in the second. Solid shooting late in the half from Pack and
Lauren Bailey allowed GWU to keep the deficit within 10 as UNC Asheville took a 39-32 lead into the break. Pack and Bailey continued to do what they could to keep Gardner-Webb in the contest in the third. It was not enough as they built their lead to 21 midway through the fourth quarter. The Bulldogs of UNC Asheville ultimately took the game 72-58.

Ashley Hawkins was right behind her on the scoresheet with 12 points and four rebounds. She is up to 310 points on the season. Other notables for Gardner-Webb include Bailey tallying eight points and seven rebounds while
Ramatoulaye Keita also grabbed seven rebounds. Keita continues to lead the 'Dawgs in rebounds with 159.
