CHARLESTON, S.C. - On the deck of the USS Yorktown on Friday night, the Gardner-Webb University wrestling was defeated by West Point in a 35-6 final score.
In the 141 pound weight class, graduate
Todd Carter continued a strong start to his 2024 season. Following up from his ranked with over Purdue last weekend, Carter scored a 4-2 win against Army by decision. With the result, Carter moves to 2-0 as an individual this season. The lone other win by a Gardner-Webb individual came via sophomore
Drew Pepin in the 157 pound division. In a victory by sudden decision, Pepin scored a 4-1 win over his opposition from West Point.
The match against Army would conclude the Runnin' Bulldogs night earlier than expected. The second match scheduled against Virginia for 7 p.m. was forced to be canceled due to condensation on the event mats at the time of competition. GWU will now turn its attention to a match weekend at Army, with the Black Knight Invitational starting on November 24th. Â
