HIGH POINT, N.C. – The Gardner-Webb University women's basketball team dropped their weekend road match up at High Point University on Saturday night by a final score of 75-72.
Ashley Hawkins scored a third best on the season 22 points despite the loss.
The Runnin' Bulldogs went toe-to-toe with the panther thourgh the first 10 minutes with Gardner-Webb beginning to take control. The second quarter saw GWU lead by as much as nine with via key contributions from
Anaya Harris and
Micahla Funderburk.

Lauren Bevis were the story early in the second half as the lead exchanged several times before the Panthers took it into the fourth quarter. HPU held a narrow advantage entering the final minute of play as
Lauren Bailey struck with a corner three to cut the lead to two. Four made free throws ultimately allowed the Panther to hang on for the win.

Hawkins dropped 22 points for GWU in the game for her third highest scoring performance of the season, and sixth game scoring at least 20 points. Funderburk and Harris each recorded 12 points on the night.
Andrea Martinez and Harris each pulled in seven rebounds for the 'Dawgs with
Grace Pack just behind them at six.
