KANSAS CITY, Mo. –Gardner-Webb's
Jha'Quan Anderson has completed competition in the consolation bracket of the 184-pound weight class at the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships at T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, Missouri. He went 1-1 on his second day winning his first match, and dropping his second.
Anderson began the day besting James Conway of Franklin and Marshall College in a 4-2 decision. His second match was a loss to Colton Hawks of the University of Missouri in a 4-1 sudden victory.
He finishes the season with an overall record of 31-10.
Not sure where to start with Jha'Quan and his tournament this year, let alone his career.' said coach Elliott. "He and Todd both represented our university well and we are proud of them. Jha'Quan competed his tail off this weekend and showed that he is one of the nations best. Knocking off a few higher seeds and then the heart breaking OT loss to the Missouri kid shows where he is. He finished top 16 for us, something that only one other wrestler has done for Gardner-Webb. I couldn't be more proud of him, but am hurting with him as well tonight as his career ended. This sport is brutal but so rewarding at the same time. I hope that we did as much for Jha'Quan as he did for us the past few years."
