Gardner-Webb Men's Golf Finishes 12th at the 2024 Cleveland Golf Palmetto

Max White turns in top peformance for Runnin' Bulldogs at the prestigious invitational
Aiken S.C. – In one of the most popular collegiate tournaments of the spring, the Gardner-Webb's men's golf team finished 12th at the 2024 Cleveland Golf Palmetto Tuesday afternoon.
The two-day event (Monday 3/4 & Tuesday 3/5), which was pushed back from the weekend due to heavy rains, was played on at the Palmetto Golf Club in Aiken, South Carolina.
Hosted by USC Aiken, on a par-70, 6,617-yard course. Palmetto Golf Club was founded in 1892, making it the second oldest golf club in the country.
The Palmetto is known for its unique greens and strategic bunkering.
The Runnin 'Bulldogs finished the two-day/54-hole event at 894 (294, 292, 308) which was +54.
Gardner-Webb graduate senior Max White (Tampa, Fla) was the top performer for the Runnin 'Bulldogs, finishing tied for 38th on the 75-player leaderboard. White wound up with a total of 221 (+11).
Sophomore Jack Boyer (Greensboro, N.C.) turned in a 54-hole total of 224 (+14) to finish tied with four other golfers tied for 45th.
Right behind Boyer in on the leader board for the Runnin' Bulldogs was senior Jules Bondil (Pertuis, France), who shot a 225 (+15) to finish tied for 50th place.
Sophomore Maddox Whittington (Lenoir, N.C.) 235 (+25/67th h) and sophomore Bradley Davis Jr (Mountain Pilot, N.C.) were also in the Runnin' Bulldogs lineup.
Davis was ill during the first two rounds on Monday (3/4) and was only able to compete in the final round on Tuesday (3/5) where her shot a (+5) 75 for the round.
Davidson College (+5) took the team title ahead of second-place South Carolina-Aiken (+11) and third-place Furman (+19).
Rory McDonald-O'Brien of South Carolina -Aiken (-3), Joshua Stewart of Davidson (-2) and Daniel Azallion of Virginia Tech (-2) finished on top of the individual leaderboard.
"The Palmetto Golf Course is a great place, and this is one of our favorite tournaments," said Gardner-Webb golf coach Tee Burton. "Unfortunately, Bradley (Davis) got sick while we were there and we weren't at full strength. We'll get back to work and get ready for ECU."
Up Next: The Runnin' Bulldogs will compete at the annual ECU Intercollegiate at Brook Valley Country Club on Sunday and Monday, March 17-18.. The two-day, 54-hole event is on a par-72 track which measures 6,755 yards for the competitors.
