CULLOWHEE, N.C. – The Gardner-Webb University softball team picked up two more wins to extend their winning streak on Friday defeating Kent State 6-4, and North Carolina Central 11-3. The Runnin' Bulldogs tallied 17 runs in two games winning their second of the day via run rule.
The Runnin' Bulldogs and Golden Flashes played a defensive game that entered the sixth scoreless.
Andrea Lyon got the lineup going with a homerun down the leftfield line.
Adrienne Visintine added to the lead in the seventh scoring
Annicka McLaughlin. KSU tied the game at in the bottom frame sending the game into the eight. Gardner-Webb got the bats going in the eighth inning putting up four runs with
Maura Pendleton,
Ella Christopher, and
Jailyn Tineo getting across. KSU tallied two in the bottom of the inning before the 'Dawgs won it 6-4.
Gardner-Webb then turned around put seven runs in the bottom of their first inning against NC Central with the heart of the Runnin' Bulldog lineup all making it in to score. The Eagles were able to get a pair of runs on the board in the third inning via small ball before
Mackenzie Freeman singled to score Tineo. An NCCU homer in the fourth was their final run of the game. GWU went on to tally three more to end the game in the sixth inning via run rule.
The Runnin' Bulldogs will continue play in the Western Carolina Tournament on Saturday March 9 against North Carolina Central at 10:00 a.m. and the host Western Carolina at 3:00 p.m.
