BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – The two-time reigning conference champion Gardner-Webb football team will hold its 15
th and final spring practice on Friday night at Spangler Stadium when the team hosts its annual spring game. Admission is free to the public and the game is scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
"Gardner-Webb football fans have been so supportive over the last two championship seasons," said Vice President and Director of Athletics Dr. Andrew T. Goodrich. "I know our student-athletes would love to show our loyal and passionate football community how hard they've been working to keep this championship tradition going. Please come and support Coach Reisert and his staff as they prepare one final time for the 2024 football season."
The game will match the offense versus the defense and feature four 12-minute quarters with a running clock. Fans in attendance will experience the complete GWU game day environment, including appearances from the cheer team and band. During in-game breaks, fans can compete in on-field competitions for prizes.
Pregame festivities will begin at 4:30 p.m. with the Dawg Walk, the football team's traditional pregame march from the Tucker Student Center to Spangler Stadium. At 5 p.m. across Stadium Drive, the Department of Athletics will officially open the brand-new Soccer Field House, the new home of the GWU soccer programs, with a ribbon cutting ceremony. Friday night's complete schedule of events is listed below.
"There isn't a better place you can bring your family to have a lot of fun than on our campus this afternoon and evening," said Goodrich. "We have a baseball game, a ribbon-cutting ceremony for our new soccer facility, and a football game with a lot of guys motivated to make some big plays. It's a fantastic way to kick off our Webbstock weekend!"
