Gardner-Webb Wins Two to Take Big South Series Against Presbyterian

Runnin’ Bulldogs score 11 runs to sweep Saturday doubleheader vs. Blue Hose

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – The Gardner-Webb University softball team won both games of their Saturday afternoon doubleheader against Presbyterian College taking the first game 7-1, and the second 4-1. The wins allow GWU to take the crucial Big South series over PC.
 
Adrienne Visintine got things started for GWU in the third inning of game one hitting a two-run shot right center for a 2-0 lead. Presbyterian scored their one run on a sac fly in the fourth inning. Gardner-Webb scored five runs in the fifth inning with Taylor Dreher, Ella Christopher, Trina Van Dyke, and Carmen McRea all tallying RBI's. Andrea Lyon registered the complete game victory.
 
The Runnin' Bulldogs went back to work in the first inning of game-two scoring two with a sac fly from Araceli Pasqueira scoring Annicka McLaughlin, and a double from Lyon to score Visintine. Christopher went on to single in the third scoring Haley Yeary, and Dreher reached home on an error. PC got one across in the sixth inning. Elle Doolittle got the win, and Kalyn Kyle the save.
 
Gardner-Webb will return to the field to on Sunday, April 28 to finish their home series with Presbyterian College at 1:00 p.m. Senior Day festivities will take place immediately following the game.
