Siftar Concludes Weather-Shortened Elon Inviational With Sixth Place

BURLINGTON, N.C. – Senior Neza Siftar posted a combined score of 147 (+3) over 36 holes to lead the Gardner-Webb University women's golf team with a 6th place finish at the Elon Invitational on September 16-17. The 54-hole event was cut short due to inclement weather in the surrounding area.
As a team, the Runnin' Bulldogs took home 12th place after firing rounds of 299 (+15) and 317 (+33). Their two-round combined score came out to be 616 (+48). Gardner-Webb finished above William & Mary and Maryland-Eastern Shore.
Over her two rounds, Siftar compiled 23 pars to go along with four birdies. In round one, she posted a one-under, 71 before carding a four-over, 76 in her final round of action.
Junior Georgia Barr concluded her tournament with a finish of 34th after posting equal rounds of 77 (+5) for a 36-hole combined score of 154 (+10).
Finishing not far behind Barr was senior Kayla Dowell, who posted a two-round score of 156 (+12). During her first 18, Barr carded a three-over, 75 before concluded the event with a nine-over, 81.
In her first action as a collegiate golfer, freshman Eva Bulger turned in scores of 76 (+4) and 83 (+11) over her two rounds, respectively. The newcomer combined for a score of 159 (+15), good enough for 59th place.
Senior Vileska Gelpi carded rounds of 84 (+12) and 77 (+5) for a 36-hole combined score of 161 (+17) and a 64th place finish.
Rounding out the golfers for GWU was senior Ashley Huffman, who took home 76th after a two-round combined score of 172 (+28). She fired an eight-over, 80 in round one before concluding the event with a 20-over, 92.
Gardner-Webb will return to the links on September 23-24, traveling to Asheboro, N.C. to take part in the Tot Hill Farm Invitational hosted by the College of Charleston.
